Image posting on the AM Forum

Here's just a quick little tutorial on posting images in the AM Forum. Most of you already know how to do this I'm sure. For those of you who haven't done this before, follow these brief instructions:

(1) Upload your sketch to a server (could be your own or one of the image hosting sites out there)
(2) Create a post in the DoodleSquad Thread and within that post, put the link to your sketch between the image tag like:

[img]yourlinkgoeshere[/img]

Good luck. We're looking forward to seeing what ya'll come up with!

How could there be a "has beens" topic that didn't include an appearance by the one, the only, the multi-talented, the biggest has-been of them all: David Hasselhoff! Did you know he has a "Best of" CD out? One happy customer writes in his review:

"After hearing the sweet voice of David Hankipants, I felt like throwing my disgusted, lifeless body off a tall bridge and plummeting into the deep, freezing waters below. As I got to song 2, I began to vomit uncontrollably all over my floor. The torture continued until song 3, at which time I was rushed to the hospital because my ears had begun to bleed severely. My doctor's told me I had suffered a severe brain contusion, possibly from dangerous exposure to ultra-high gamma frequencies aka bad music.

When I got home, Scruffy, my canine, was dead. He had been exposed to Song 4 and scratched his own ears off. As he lay in a puddle of his own blood, I will never forgive myself for buying David Hankiman's CD... "

Eat your hearts out, fellas...you've been "baywatched"...

***NEWS FLASH*** There's a music video available online. Be prepared to laugh your ass off. Synopsis: David Hasselhoff is big in Europe. BIG. And to kick off his new album release there, he's released this video for "Hooked on a Feeling." It's wacky. Especially when he bites the salmon.

Ideas for Week 02!

Hi Everyone!!
Post your topic ideas for Week 02 (due June 17th 2005) in the comments of this post... we cant wait to see what everyone comes up with!

Guidelines for Posting

Hey All... WOOO the time is almost here to see some kick-butt caricatures for our first week's project...

Just wanted to share a few guidelines and give some tips on getting the images up on the site...

IMPORTANT The image itself can be as large as you want so long as the image you use to link to it from the site is 420x315 or at least just 420 wide.. it can be portrait if you want.. this will lend some continuity to the site by having all pictures be the same width... it also ensures that you dont break the site layout

For everyone who hasnt used blogger before... the way to go about posting on here is really pretty easy...

Upload your image to your own ftp or on someone's who lets you use theirs.. (i know this part is kinda a pain but we are trying to keep the administrative part of this site down to as little work as possible so we can spend most of the time sketching and animating)

Log in to Blogger.. when you log in to your blogger dashboard there should be a listing of blogs you are currently a part of... Click on doodlesquad to enter the site..

Go to the posting tab and click create... type in the title in the format:
Week - Project - Name - for example this week mine will be:

Week 01 - Caricature - Matt Kelly

Preferably you would use your real name but if you want to use your AM handle that's fine as well.

Notes About Posting Images
to post the image as a thumbnail (being size 420x315) link to a larger image type in:

<A HREF="url for big image.jpg"><IMG SRC="url for thumbnail image.jpg"></A>

or.. if you want to use the larger image as a thumbnail (much more bandwidth usage on your site but then you dont have to make a thumbnail version

<A HREF="url for big image.jpg"><IMG SRC="url for big image.jpg" width=420 height=315></A>

or.. if you are gonna just post the one image with no link directly on the site and have it exactly 420x315

<IMG SRC="url for image that is 420x315">

if you have picasa with hello or some other blog image posting program.. feel free to use those as well...

oh.. i also set up an email address for the site that jp and i will be checking occasionally.. any questions either grab me on AIM or MSN if you've got my screenname or on AM if you dont or send them to doodlesquad@gmail.com

Welcome to Doodlesquad!

Hey and welcome to DoodleSquad! The goal of this site is to give each of us the opportunity to stretch our creative muscles each week and have fun doing it! Basically, the site will work like this: On Monday, we'll post a current topic for the week. Then you'll have the week to illustrate that topic using whatever medium (traditional or digital) you feel drawn to! (pun intended) You'll have until Friday to upload your masterpiece and feel good about yourself for having finished a job well done!

Awed and Inspired by the avatars of our awe-inspiring mentors, we're proposing that the first official topic be a caricature of yourself. These illustrations will need to be uploaded by next Friday, June the 10th.

As for upcoming topics and themes, we're open to suggestions so put those thinking caps on and let us know what you'd like to draw next! Sample topics could include your favorite movie character (live action or animated), aliens, oversized rodents and your favorite super hero to name a few. Feel free to post any ideas you may have into the comments section of this post.

Now sharpen up those mice, plug those pencils in and get to work! We're looking forward to seeing what all of you come up with.

The Doodle Squad Team
